Renfield called Ripper in when Downtown Ebony Hare came in and was threatening to take control of Renfield's business. When Ebony Hare saw Ripper, he simply snapped his fingers and his own personal bodyguard, Blackjack, stepped in and KOed Ripper with one punch.
